    47 Davit bushing question-gctid817167

Is the lower outer bushing supposed to be tight or loose in the base of the Davit?

    Thanks Dave

Dave, just like "Goldilocks", not to loose and not too tight. My davit was really tight and wouldn't move easily, so I had it professionally honed out with 8 thou clearance. Combined with Superlube, it moves just fine now. Just watch that the inside face of the bushing may be slightly angled and not square, which you may need to adjust for.

    Hope this assists. Cheers

Dave - if I am reading this question correctly than there is no clearance at all it is a press fit.

That would be the lower outer bearing to the rotating housing.

The inner bearing has a clearance to the fixed davit pivot point (attached to the hull) which does not rotate - that is where the rotation occurs.
