1986 3870 Muir Windlass Chain size-gctid816125

I could not find any data on a search. Does anyone know what size/ type chain works with the Muir Cougar windlass on these boats?

Depends on the chain wheel gypsy size that was installed.

I posted page positing the gypsy available recently on another thread.ill look for it.

I have an 87 same make windlass. When I called them they were completely dumbfounded that I had a working windlass that old but at the end of the day the gypsy was stamped "5/16 3B" which they had no matching item on their chart but obviously it meant BBB 5/16 and I got that and it worked - so take a close look at your gypsy. NOTE: Lookup the exact outer dimensions of BBB chain and MAKE SURE the place you buying it from matches it exactly. I ended up in a dispute with one online vendor because their $500 worth of chain was not actually BBB. Order 3-4 ft first to be absolutely sure.

Here is list of chain wheel sizes available with their corresponding hain and rope. My Avanti 3450 has 5/16 chain.
