    32xx Lower Helm Leaking Fluid-gctid814958

I have a 1985 3270 and noticed that my lower helm wheel is leaking fluid out of the steering wheel shaft. I also noticed that the upstairs helm wheel is getting harder to rotate. Has anyone had this issue? Any advice? Anyone know the model numbers of what needs to be replaced?

    Likely the helm seal.

Follow this link for the fix.

At the bottom of this link is another link on how to bleed the system after you fix it - you must follow the bleeding instructions completely and carefully.

The harder steering could be due to reduced pressure in the reservoir due to the leak.

The seal kit should be done, but pay attention to the shaft where the seal rides, it probably has a groove worn in it that may need to be dressed to get a good seal from the new kit.
