Nice work. Something like that really makes a older boat smile again, doesn't it?

      Thanks

I really like the hinged access hatches. I'm wondering how you fastened the upper part of the stairs. Mine are currently hinged on the aft side with the lower part of the hinge screwed into the hatch and the hatch screwed into the bulkhead.

          Nice job!

I did away with the hinged setup on the stairs, now I just use two heavy duty hooks on the top, I think you can see them in the pic.

What a great job, well done Sir. The Commodore and I differ on where this upgrade ranks on our to do list.

How did you refinish the wood?

                    Varnish?

Just wipe with acetone first or sand?

Looks great! Reminds me that the hatches' hinges are still on my to do list...

I cleaned all the wood with teak cleaner, You would be surprised how much dirt come off. Then 2 coats of Sikkins natural Cetol followed by one coat of Sikkins gloss top coat.
