Looking for a good shop to perform a transmission repair on a Meridian 490 (Hurth transmission) in the Seattle area. Any recommendations would be most welcome.

+3 on Harbor Marine, but also shop around for new transmission prices. A few years ago I found out that a new transmission with full factory warranty cost just a bit more than overhauling mine.

He just bought the boat. The transmission issue showed up in the survey.

#7 on Harbor Marine in Everett. Mike was a real help, and cost effective, a few years ago when my previous boat had transmission troubles.

The transmission issue I am inquiring about was uncovered during a survey (and we haven't closed on the boat, and may not due to this issue)...

There are enough options out there for 4788/490s that unless we receive a sufficient price reduction, we are not inclined to purchase a known potential problem.

Greatly appreciate all the advice, and very glad to hear about a good transmission guy in Everett (as that is where we will ultimately moor the boat if the purchase goes through).
