How to get hose from anchor locker 0n 3870-gctid811829

I would like to add an anchor washdown port to my anchor storage locker on the bow. I tried to follow the windlass wiring and it heads toward the starboard side of the anchor locker and then disappears. Any of you 3870 owners familiar with how this wiring is routed or the easiest way to get a hose from the rode locker back to the galley pump area?

Any direction or help is appreciated.

If I recall you can remove a panel in the head of the storage shelf to get to the anchor locker ( I remodeled my shelf area so going from mememory)

I added wash down outlet by routing hose from galley following the head hoses to the holding tank area. Then up to the cavity under the bed. Added pump to side wall of bed frame

Hose then continued to head of bed and into the locker at the head of the bed then up into the anchor locker and up to deck mounted spigot.

    All is hidden.

PS This is big thumbs up project from the Admiral - she handles the anchor

FWIW, I run one of those expandable hoses from my cockpit hose faucet up to the bow for anchor wash downs. Simple, stores easily, and very little time and $$.

        Sunbird,

My anchor wash down line runs from under the galley floor forward adjacent to the sanitation lines, along the holding tank through the storage area under the forward bed then up into the anchor locker. It is plumbed to use raw water vs fresh water. The switch to activate the dedicated pump is located just forward of the down helm steering wheel on the D.C. Buss and labeled accessory.

One thing for sure, it's extremely convenient to hose down the mud and debris off of the chain and anchor before it comes aboard!

Hi all, I was just scanning through a few posts and came across this one. Last week I came back to the marina after anchoring in soft, sticky mud and there was a lot of mud on a lot of chain. Manda Lea 3870, doesn't have a deck wash (YET). I decided to put the hose down the chain locker via the vee berth hatch and hose it out. I couldn't see any anchor locker drains so I had the crew checking for muddy water from an underwater drain? We couldn't see anything so where does the anchor locker drain to?

          Thanks,Craggles

Like Craggles I did not see access from under the bed to the anchor locker. The anchor locker seems to be sealed from anywhere else. Jin Gandee did you have an opening in yours that provided access to the area under the bed?

I wired mine to the windlass and will only operate when windlass is turned on. A separate switch in the locker next to the windlass to activate.

I ran the hose down inside along the mirror, thru the fwd hatch, under the bed, pass the holding tank and tapped into the fwd head

I trimmed to hide the hose with teak (see attached). the other side hides a fwd fill hose next to the windlass to fill a 40 gallon bladder fwd of the holding tank.

                  Jim,

Did you get a chance to take a pic of your hose routing?

                  Thanks- Mike

Hi percs. I fitted a 150 ltr bladder under the vee berth but above the hull area to get Manda Lea the 600 n.mile trip home as the aluminium one was had it. I have since fitted two poly tanks side by side where the original tank was and was considering another poly tank at hull level behind the holding tank but notice you put a bladder there. Does it fill and drain ok as i would have thought the bladder would have bunched up. We need the area directly under the vee berth for storage as we live aboard.

                    Thanks, Craggles

Here's a shot of the anchor wash down hose as it comes up from beneath the storage area forward of the black water tank. It then penetrates the bulkhead and up into the storage area at the head of the bed. It then penetrates that bulkhead and into the anchor chain area where it wraps around to the back side of the anchor locker. It appears the PO did have to install a 6" access panel to the bottom of the storage area at the head of the bed. Hope the pics help and make sense.
