Is this stuff from NAPA OK to use in my 175 Hinos?

It's Green, low silica and good for aluminium. Plus the price is good.

I have 4 audis and two hinos, both call for '' SPECIAL'' coolant, yes I would and do use it. Hinos are almost 30 yrs old and mani coolers are super clean, and Audis still drive using green coolant

      Hello,

I would be careful to be sure you have the same type and color of coolant, already. I'm not sure if the hino 175 uses the same type of premixed antifreeze and my Mans do. If so, The color is important to keep the same as depending on the color, adding a different color may cause the coolant in the engine to gel, causing a significant problem with your coolant system and a costly repair.

      I hope this helps,

Earl recommended the red Cummins certified coolant from Napa. Not knowing what was in my 175's I dumped and flushed and flushed some more then installed the Napa red. I fully agree with the not mixing the colors. The po had coolant that looked more Florescent pink, and since I didn't know the brand and type, I just did a total change.

I've got the green stuff in there now and they look good.

Got this stuff on sale for $11.00 a bottle and it's the concentrate, not pre-mixed.

          That's 8 bucks a jug 'Merican :cheer:

Isn't the pink stuff for your potable water!!

We had a gal on our dock that was having some issues with her boat engine and asked me to have a look see. I cracked the hatch and the first thing I see is the overflow tank full of PINK liquid.

I asked her to show me the bottle and yep, potable water Anti Freeze. OOPS!! :woohoo:

I found the green Prestone, pre mixed at Walmart for $8.99 a gallon. I use that for n my 135 Hinos.

For the most part the US brands of coolant are mostly compatible with each other, at least that what Prestone indicates'

I understand that though most of the brands are compatible, its the color that is a significant issue and regardless of brand. It can cause serious "gelling" of the coolant if the wrong combination of premix colors are used....

I use he red Zerex extended life formula in the engines, genset and hydronic systems on Omega... The cheapest place I've found it is actually Amazon.com, when I buy it by the case in....

Checking levels and adding additives may be a cheaper route.

Didn't read past the GM and Audi coolants being interchangeable and compaitable. They aren't. Dexcool is crap to start with, and will gel on it's own. Add the G12 Audi HOAT, and it turns to jello very quickly, seen this MANY times, as I have customers who shop at PBoys, and are told " they're all the same" G12 and any green "old school" formula will also gel quickly, as will any HOAT coolant with green. BMW's formula is interesting. The Pink Asian A/F formulas will interchange with G12, don't know about the red formulas.
