from 16 to 29 miles per hour... all it took was with 520 hp and some cash... Nice.. looks like a well kept 38 too... sounds like he is happy with the upgrade...

Those are great engines. Same engine as in my wifes BMW X5. Loads of torque, and they still rev high. Perfect for a heavy boat.

I do like how "TV magic" can reduce something as involved and complicated as a repower into something roughly 10 minutes long
. . .It places the lotion in the Basket. . .and that basket happens to be in a 1987 Bayliner 3870 w/ Hino 175's

They did say labor clocked @120 hrs X $100 is $12,000,

Yanmar engine/ control package should be +$50,000,

$65,000 repower project on a 33 yr old Bayliner :woohoo:

Love to see what a pair of Hyundai Seasall would do on her...

;That boat is so modified its hard to call it 33 years old. I haven't seen it for 3 or so years and can't imagine what else has been done.

                  Maybe this summer.

I found the video very interesting

Clearly a repower is not a small undertaking

I will ask for clarification on the fuel burn as stated in video - it did seem to be incorrect.

John - can you provide info on the fuel burn by speed range?

                    Thanks

The Standard estimate for a complete repower on a boat like this is the price of an engine + gearbox times three. This will account for parts, labor, etc. A friend repowered a Tolly 30 with diesels. The final price ended up very close to 3X an engine and transmission.
