3288 in France, looking better every day!-gctid802713

Whilst it has been a somewhat slow and painful few weeks, the 1991 boat we bought with 150 Hinos, in a sadly neglected condition, is beginning to smile. Lots of little issues, but dealing with them one by one.

All the basin taps leak and with different metals in them, impossible to restore, so new ones coming.

Hydraulic leak at upper helm, probably from the cold German winter.

Trim tabs, replaced one ram, and now not working again, so back to work on them tomorrow.

Autohelm ST5000 hydraulic pump leaked, so had to replace it.

Lofrans windlass foot switches are erratic, and shouting at them doesn't work.... Dismantle and service.

Centre windscreen wiper arm broken. Darn difficult to get the remaining bit off.

Replaced all the curtains with venetian blinds.

    Noisy Norcold fridge.

Engines only make 2,600 and 2,700 RPM, but trim tab issue probably not helping.

Finding oil and fuel filters is a challenge here.

Only 2 x 95a/h batteries, so need to up the capacity and fit a decent size inverter.

Excellent quality cockpit canvas, not looked after by last owner, so repairs in hand this week. Helps to have a sailmaker son....

Working on solution for propane system. Impossible to get those tanks filled here, so fitting 6kg bottle, but just too big to slide into the space!

Cave access lid to be done in the next 2 or 3 weeks, as well as cockpit to bathing platform door.

First outing this last weekend as part of race committee team for big student regatta, so now very tired, but lovely weather and the basics of the boat worked brilliantly.

A lifetime of racing everything from dinghies to world girdlers, but one of those lucky people who just love being afloat. So .... when the body doesn't work like before, it doesn't mean staying ashore.

You can certainly be proud of your accomplishments in such a short time. You did more to your 32 than I did in two years. I am still curious about the keel extension on your yacht. Did you ever find anything more about the modification?

Looks good, nice to get some of the deferred maintenance done, then the fun upgrades can begin! Congrats on the new boat.

                I sense another captain wearing a perma-grin.

Looks good and good luck with repairs!

It seems we are going thru a similar process at the moment.

It's just, in our boat all of this came up as surprise and I don't have much time to do everything and therefore focusing on the essentials.

                  cheers,
