Jeff, the cyclone made landfall yesterday and has now turned south coming down the coast towards Brisbane in SE Queensland (where I live). We expect 4-6" rain over the next 48 hrs as a rain depression drops a deluge.

There has been much damage to houses and communities up in the Whitsunday islands near Airlie Beach. While boats and jetties have inevitably been damaged or lost, I don't believe the loss has been as great as the prior event 6 yrs back where marinas/boats were smashed like matchsticks. I haven't heard of any loss of life, although one guy was taken to hospital when a wall toppled over.

It could have been worse I guess. Cheers

My cousin and his wife live near Brisbane. He told me the same but never the less they are prepared.

Good luck to all of you.

Pretty much as John Higgins wrote. The rain depression moved all the way down into northern NSW before moving off shore and diminishing. It dropped a bucket load of water and flooded a lot of low lying communities along the way. Our rain gauge recorded 193 mm, or 7.5 inches of rain, in 36 hours.

The suns out, so I can hear the grass growing.
