Anybody know how to gain access to the forward bilge pumps on a '97 4788? I believe one of mine (the automatic one) has stopped working and I have yet to figure out were they are and how to get to them! The aft ones and midship ones are readily accessible but where did the hide the forward pair?

They are under the first step leading up into the master stateroom.

On our 47 we have three pumps that I know of. The most forward is accessed by removing the first (lowest) stair tread just aft of the rear head. Step just tips up and pulls out of a recess in aft end of step. The middle pump is accessed behind (just forward of) the fuel valve panel. You can check the pump and auto float switch by looking under the fuel valve panel. the rear pump is located in a fiberglass access panel in the floor between the engines about 2/3 to the aft end of the diamond plate fiberglass floor between the engines. I have only seen auto float switches on the middle and aft pump. Is this the information you want?

on my 2000 4788, the fwd bilge pumps are under the lowest step from the passageway to the salon. As pointed out , the step pulls out and tips for removal. The Johnson float switch and "automatic" pump and the helm switch controlled pump are located there. The Johnson float switch has failed on the aft bilge, mid bilge & the fwd bilge pump and the shower sump on my boat. I replaced each with the Rule float switch, no more problems.
