My boat is currently on the hard at Dagmar's marina in Everett and I'd like to have someone change oil, filters, coolant, etc.. Anyone have a recommendation for a good mechanic in the area that won't require me to take out a mortgage on the boat? Thanks for the help.

Seems to me a handshake agreement with a fellow BOCer would take care of your maintenance requirements....the items you listed are pretty easy to accomplish. IMO no need to get raped by a mechanic for these types of procedures.....

Talk to the folks at Dagmars, they should have a mobile marine maint guy. The things you want to do are not too engine specific. North Harbor may also have a recommendation.

Hugh, Agree with others this is good work to do yourself - see PM for offer to help. Agree Mike K @ AM does good work at a fair price. To change all fluids & filters may cost $500 to $1,000 for mechanic - about $200 to $300 on your own. If it has been a while I suggest: 1) Change coolant, 2) Change engine oil & filters, 3) Change fuel filters, 4) Change transmission fluid, 5) Top off batteries (with distilled water), 6) Check/replace belts, 7) Grease zirc fittings, 8) Check/clean/change engine air intake filters, 9) Top-off steering fluid reservoir, and 10) Top-off trim-tab pump reservoir. There are tricks to each of these described in this Forum. I have had good luck so far with all synthetic oils - Earl the Hino Guru recommends Amsoil, but I use Shell Rotella (for engine oil). Good luck, Doug S.
