    4788 Neutral safety switch.-gctid760004

Finally get everyone to the boat yesterday and the starboard engine will not start. Get buzzer, nothing else. Quickly traced issue to the neutral safety switch and bypassed it. Was looking to buy a replacement sensor and noticed they look incredibly simple. So, can they fail, or is it an issue with the transmission internal part that makes contact with it? I am half temped to wire in an override switch.

Here's a page out of the ZF manual re testing the switch etc. Personally I'd be replacing rather than inserting some over ride switch given the safety concerns. Hope it assists. Cheers

Oh I plan on replacing. The override switch idea was to be able to start if there was a failure down the road. Not a permanent override, just a rocker switch that would have to held. Would keep me from having to go below and bridge the terminals while someone else starts the boat.
