    Electrical Outlet issue on 38-gctid388845

I had an issue with my Electrical outlets in the midships stateroom, the outlet attached to hanging locker and the outlet in the midships head in the sliding storage compartment behind the sink.

The outlets stopped working yesterday morning when the admiral was getting ready for work. I did the usual re-setting of the breaker by pushing the re-set buttons on the outlet in the galley and on the wet bar. This did not work.

This-morning I got my tool box out and was getting ready to unscrew the outlet and take a look when I decided to try it again before I electrocuted myself :hypnotysed: and the outlets worked..

What could be happening here? Why would it shut off for 24 hours and then re-set its self? I am a bit confused and concerned, please help!

I get that on my 38 too. Maybe there is a thermal trip in them and they need to cool down before you can reset them.

I had the same issue in my 3988. My plug in electric shaver would work, then, for no "good"reason, not work in the starboard head. I replaced the ground fault receptacle, for that side, with no relief from the problem. One of my buddies asked if I'd checked every plug in the electrical run from the GFR. The problem was a loose wire in the galley receptacle. Evidently it made intermittent contact as the boat moved It was tightened and the problem solved. I overlooked a logical reason for the problem.

I agree with Luther and sounds like a loose connection somewhere or an intermittant fault with your circuit breaker. However bfore you star that just make sure the appliance that was plugged into the outlet is ok sometimes they can have a fault especially if it is a hairdryer. Failing that you need to check all the terminals.

Thanks gents, I will check all options.. The Admiral was using a hair dryer when it went out... If I can figure it out I will update the thread but it has not acted up since the initial incident..

Yep. Same thing. Our guest was using her hair dryer in the midship head and it quit. I did the same routine you did and later it worked again. I have no idea but I checked everything and it appears tight and secure so if it's not broke...........
