we went out fishing this morning, and on the way back to the dock we were trolling the channel.. a pod of approx 10 killer whales started coming down the channel.. A momma and baby were playing around us, at one point they breached next our port side so close the baby almost flopped on the swimstep on the port side.. they backed up and then started racing in our wake of 8 knots.. it was soooooo cool.. got killer videos and pics of them

yes it is.. there were lots of babies with the mom, this was my first time in our boat that they did that.. I have seen them chase the ferry here coming into port.. one momma had twins... then we saw a naked fat man just strolling along the beach.. he would stop and turn and watch us point ummm blank.. YES I got a pic.. he was cold.. lol

Very cool.
On our first trip to the San Juan's we ended up in the middle of a pod of Orcas. It was amazing, they are really entertaining and beautiful. Had one of those State watch boats come over and give us a bad time about being too close. Our engines were shut down as the pod actually came over to us. Asked him what he would like us to do. If I started my engines to move away I would be in violation of the law. He didn't like my response and kept giving me the evil eye like he was watching me. The Orcas made it all worth while fantastic animals.

We'll be in Juneau June 15-22 on our cruise and checking out Juneau 22-24 June... We arrive early AM 15th and depart on our cruise at 4:45PM that afternoon. Then we are back in Juneau 22 June AM and leave 24 June PM. If you folks are around, we'll buy the first round...

well, the herring didnt spawn right and did it out to sea... so the spring kings are no where to be found.. even the derby sucks right now.... BUT on a good note any day on a boat is a good day I think.. they said there is a good school heading our way near Petersburg.. plus the hatcheries are seeing returns too.. your time frame should be pretty good for the salmon heading in..Go Aweigh2452 wrote:

here is a pic of the dude.. its as close as it could with my phone.. even so..ewwwwww.. I didnt believe my huny and his friend when he said it, so I got the binocs out.. omg was true.. this freak was flaunting back and forth turning and watching us.. clearly had issues in more then one way.. guess he was short pole fishing from the bank... no one else was near him, or a cabin or tents... guess he was the greeter for Juneau...lol
