We have a 4087 motoryacht with Cummins 270 horse diesels. I want to put digital tachometers on the boat specifically aetna engineering. I believe the tach sender on this engine is a flywheel magnetic counting system, not a mechanical one. Can someone confirm that for me? Thanks in advance.

One option (a big thank you to Pete) is to purchase the DSL-1 from Dakota Digital. It connects to the W or stator port of the alternator and turns stator pulses into tachometer signals for gas engines. There are plenty of digital tachometers available for gas engines, so your choices will increase dramatically on gague size, type, manufacturer, etc.
