32XX and crab pot pullers-gctid382296

I'm curious what the options are for installing crab pot pullers,etc. I bought this unit but am wondering if mounting it to the teak around the cockpit is advisable. Seems like with a crab pot, weight, and hopefully a number of craps, the moment arm of this setup might be a bit much for the teak/glass strength.

I have a hardtop and am wondering about trying to make a mount to attach it to the vertical support located at the transom. What have you been using, besides your spine to haul them up? I'd like to have one of the Ace units, but a new depth sounder is more important at this time.

Thanks very much. I definitely hadn't seen this type of mount before when searching. You also posted photos of cutting the access hatch just in front of the head door gaining storage space, right? If so, I'm still contemplating that as it seemed a relatively simple way to gain a lot of storage space. If that wasn't you, disregard. Thanks for the photos, Dean

Sorry it's taken so long to get back.

The front bilge is partitioned with a bulk head in line with the rear of the fridge. It has limber holes that drain the three sections partitioned by the port and starboard stringers. I tried to use a circular saw because you can control the dept of the cut. I cut under the fridge and in the floor going to the V birth. There is a limber hold under the fridge that drains the port side. The cut next to the head door is near the starboard stringer. I started the cut too close to the stringer as you can see in picture http://www.baylinerownersclub.org/ga...m602/CutFloor1. Looks like CarMan's cut was away from the stringer.
