Engine Syncronizer on 4788-gctid376818

Hi

I have always had this problem and really dont know if its a problem or not.

Our 96 4788 with Hinos 310 s has the Glendinning Syncroniser that works really well and I use it alot but when it is engaged the slave engine tacho wobbles around alot, it ossolates about 40 degree swing on the tacho needle. As soon as you disengage the syncroniser the tacho returns to a stable condition.

Is this normal? How can I fix it? Any ideas?

My 3988 with 250 Hino's does the same thing. I contacted Glendinning about it and they offer a counter spring that is specifically designed for the Hino engines as they have a strong injection governor spring

Right Thanks for that I will contact them and see what they think.

Just for your information I contacted Glendinning about this issue and I found that due Hinos having a strong return spring or something you should allways have the slave lever in the full throttle position when useing the syncronizer to lake the load off the Syncroniser itself.

I didi not know this and thought I should just make all aware of this operating requirement, Hino or not this is the preferred method of operation.

People at Glendinning were very helpfull.

I do the same thing, full throttle position on the slave but the tach still jumps around. Runs smooth though.

A syncronizer question for you folks that have them........

Do any of you that currently have syncronizers also have boost, fuel usage, or pyro gages?

Reason I ask is that I was wondering how close an rpm syncro will match up to the fuel use and/or load on the two engines.

Cant help with that one Smitty I dont have any of those gages. As a result I really never know how many gallons or litres I am using an hour.
