The water gauge on the forward thank stops working when the water level is under the haft. I cannot find what make it is. Who can tell me?Thank's

The gauge on the water tank on my boat would only read to 1/2, no less. The gear at the top of the float assembly was covered with a crust, I assumed to be from the hard water we use. I cleaned the gears and it read fine. Sometimes the float gets waterlogged as well, so if you have the unit removed for cleaning,I suggest replacing the float. I used a small eye drop bottle on the end of the float wire.
