Hello all

I have Onan 8kw in my 1989 38.

There is a nine pin connector on the control box for the plug in for the remote control including the instruments,

The pins are corroded and having trouble with connections

Anyone have a source or suggestion of where to find other than the Onan House of Gold dealer

I would try any local electronics store and if that does not work google allied electronics and see if they have an online catalog. Also, try local radio shack.

Have you looked through McMaster-Carr's catalogue to see if it's a stocked item?

I have replaced similar bad connectors with several butt connectors covered with shrink tubing to waterproof them. Good solution if you can not find a better solution.

I've been doing some work to my Onan generator and hvae found the Cummings folks very helpful. I've found that they stocked all the original parts I needed for my generator, so you might try there if you need parts.

I had success with Conxall connectors for electronics, not sure if they would have something for your project..

You are correct. I think they are owned by the same company as we have a ummins factory here in town and the sign says cummins/onan.

The radio shack plug looks like it might work.

The Radio shack plug/socket combo is not marine qualified. It will corrode too. My suggestion is a set of splices with shrink wrap sealant or the liquid brush on rubber coating. If you need to de-mate it regularly, investigate a marine sealed combo plug/socket so that it will withstand the enviro.
