    Hino Valve adjustment-gctid557590

    I want to adjust the valves on my Hino EH700 engines .....any tips ?.....any pitfalls

    I've never done it but if you haven't retorqued the head bolts in a while I'd do that before I adjusted the valves.

      The job is pretty straight forward and your manual tells you how to do it. You might check your injecting timing while your at it.

      If it hasn't been done on your boat yet you will have to notch the floor supports over the starboard engine to get the valve cover off.

        +1 on Jim and Doug,

        And please look carefully at at the Hino and Cummins database sticky at the top of this section.

        In there is a detailed process with pics on the valve adjust and head re toque done by Mike (bilgeboy) - a very good job.

        While his engines are 4 cylinders you will find the process almost exactly the same on the 6 cyl except for the order of adjust and amount of cyl.

          A set of metric feeler gauges workd best. They have the exact size and eliminates an in between size and guessing.
