Where do you live and what do you live in now? Advantages include lower cost and waterfront living. Downside is your going to living a more compact life style with basic amenities that are more RV like than home like. Laundry will be done someplace else, Boats aren't as well insulated and can be difficult to heat and cool compared to a home. You will need to find someplace to store hobby items like motorcycles and ski gear if you have them. If you like working in a garage, well you won't have one. Things like rotating your tires and minor car repairs will be done in a parking lot or some other place inconvenient. If you are lucky enough to live in a larger boat life can be very good, water front views, home style appliances a real washer and drier, iner- spring mattress and storage. The biggest plus is living on a boat, did I say that already. Added to the cost of berthing will be a storage unit.
If I was in a warmer climate, I would think about it seriously. We got a tweener last year. They say it is a hybred. Looks sort of like a housboat, but it gets on plane. It has plenty of room. It may move south as I get older.
