When I have a seaworthy boat, I cruise around or past Hope Island regularly. Pretty sure we've seen MoneyTaker numerous times. Things are looking good for my Trophy 2459 Offshore, aka Mud Bay Minnow III, to do a few laps around Hope Island, this spring/summer and even take the crew on a camping expedition on the island. The Professor tells me it's pretty safe to camp there as long as you stay away from the volcano in the center of the island. ;-) We will say hello or just wave if the opportunity presents itself!
I'm just glad you didn't get video of the fiasco several years back (2012-ish?), in Mud Bay Minnow I, when I anchored in the dark in what I *thought* was plenty deep water (no depth finder on that boat), and went to sleep, only to awaken to the boat (85 Saratoga 24) tilted and resting out of the water on several large logs at low tide. Thankfully, a rising tide about 3 hours later floated us away, washing away all the evidence of my blunder. Who knew that anchoring in nearly 15 feet of water wouldn't be enough, in the Olympia/Shelton area? I didn't! The tide model at the following link shows that Olympia/Shelton area has a 2 foot greater range between high and low tide than most of the rest of the Sound, with a 10.5 foot difference between low and high tides. https://www.eopugetsound.org/article...-model-summary I would have gotten away with my shallow anchoring blunder anywhere else in the Sound, but it was better that I didn't, as I got a skippering lesson I will never forget!
MoneyTaker III... so there was actually something left after I and II, hence III to finish the job?

Mudbayminnow: Before the boat (89 2159 Trophy) I used dairiki.org as tide table guide. Most of the beach from Seattle to Everett has the railroad up on the rocks, with high tide coming high up against these rocks, but low tide far away. I learned quite quick that on certain days the difference in tide can be over 15 ft. Going for a beachwalk without risking a swim or a walking adventure on railroad tracks (as many have found out over the years is not a great idea) makes these tide tables a fantastic tool. They can be set for various places around the Sound.
Once my boat is afloat, we plan doing the same thing, go somewhere, drop anchor and camp on the beach.
If you have suggestions for places please let me know. We are new to boating.1989 2159 Trophy Hardtop
