    Gas Prices Increasing-gctid358048

As boaters, many of us feel the pain at the pump due to high gas prices in recent years. Our boats guzzle gas. Before the turn of the century, we enjoyed marina gas prices in the sub $1.50 (US) a gallon range. About mid last decade it was tolerable, and usually under $2.50/gallon. Then shot up significantly to $3.50-$4 in 2008, back down to $2.50-$3 in 2010 and now trending into $4.50 for the summer of 2012.. the highest it's ever been.

I plan on taking it easier this summer on my cruising, especially if dock prices are in the $4.25 to $5/gallon range. I may cut back on my long cruises and anchor sooner and more often. Are gas prices affecting any of you? Will you be taking it easy this summer? I'm sure the more financially healthy folks will be less affected than the budget minded. I'm taking a poll out of curiosity.

We buy less gas, then they export alot from CA, they blame it on the meager 2 million gal of oil from Iran being unstable, but the oil is still flowing, it is called gouging.

Saudi oil minister says they will make up any oil not flowing from Iran, they still gouge us.

Boating is what we do. It's what we enjoy. So we'll keep on doing it. Many other people we know go on vacations or far away trips during the summer, we don't. We go boating. That is our vacation.

If gas is $5/gal, so be it. I think we burned 400-500 gal last year. So if the season costs us $500 or so more in fuel than it did last year, its still worth it...to us anyway.

Remember, the world is ending in Dec 2012 anyway, so you might as well get your boating fix in now!

$1.41 in Vancouver we have a Carbon Tax. A few weeks back there was a fire at the Cherry Point refinery in Blaine. Gas in Vancouver went up $$.07 the next day saying supplies are uncertain due to the fire. We don't get any of our gas from Cherry Point all comes from Alberta. Can you spell SCREWED.

I am mostly a dock rat too, but we have a 21' deck boat that will take 11 people so we can get to where we are going. Won't change what I do much. Last year, lots of my friends hardly went out. I did more than they did and will probably be the same this year.
