Is this a fair test of Evinrude E-TEC vs Yamaha 4-Stroke-gctid353440

    Looks one-sided to me ...

Hey Flash - A two stroke engine will accelerate quicker than a 4 stroke. The Evinrude got the jump on the Yahama and had pulled it under before the Yahama could work up a head of steam. Notice, Evinrude never did this test against another 2 stroke motor or a supercharged 4 stroke.

I'm sure it's set up so Evinrude doesn't give up the edge, but an Evinrude E-TEC is very stong out of the hole. I doubt any of its competitors can spool up as fast.

Boating is all about managing compromise. On the plus side is that super performance and super-light weight. On the negative side, you get to burn oil, it's not quite as quiet, and you'll see shorter overall life.

And back to positives; you don't touch it for the 1st 300h.

negative - it's extremely sophisticated so harder to service when there's a failure.

      Pick your poison.
