    4788 porthole hatch tiedown

One of 2 Bomar NIBO hatch tie downs failed. This is a 2 part item…the latch dog assembly attaches to the mounting bracket hold down which is screwed to the bulkhead just under the porthole ( it’s an oval top hinged glass that swings up to let air in). Salt ate away the connection between the 2. The latch dog assembly is available on line but I cannot find the mounting bracket hold down. The Bomar catalog has the dog P100-69…page 33…but the mounting bracket hold down is not in their catalog. Pompanette bought Bomar and their web site has all their stuff. Two separate customer service reps were unable to help…So has anybody had this problem and if so what did you do? Thinking of taking off another from a less used porthole and use it…

OK, that one might be difficult to find.

Youi might need to swap it out with one that is in a aft section where waves do not impact

I would contact boatoutfitters.com and see if they have the whole latch, or the base plate / mounting plate.
The base plate is held on the latch with a little pin.
A latch with a similar base plate out of their collection is this one, could use that for reference:

This is the part you need, but I have no clue what it is called. Maybe someone on the forum, boatoutfitters.com, or even rv parts suppliers can tell you. I see them everywhere, someone makes them, even a good hardware store might have them, like McClendon around south Seattle, Amazon, Alibaba. But we need the name of that part first, then the dimensions. Click image for larger version Name:	Screenshot_20230503_111841_Chrome.jpg Views:	0 Size:	21.6 KB ID:	668195

Metrodriver that’s the ticket…now a search for the name and location for one of those. I’m still needing to remove the last screw…kroil, white vinegar and salt away…tapping the screw, tightening then trying to loosen, all to no end. Just hope I don’t have to drill it out as the entire frame will need to come off. A simple window maintenance project turns into a federal project.

YESSSSS Thats what happened to me. All I wanted to do is rebed the hatch and it became a several day project.
