Gear oil in bellows. !!!!1993 bayliner classic bravo 2

    Gear oil in bellows !!!!
1993 bayliner classic 2452 with a bravo 2 outdrive a few months ago i noticed some gear oil had leaked and made its way to the engine hull. I had previously thought it was the gear oil reservoir or hose connections. It wasn't. So i investigated further and pulled the outdrive. Thats when i discovered the u joint bellows was full of oil and leaking into my engine hull. Im a new boat owner and stupidity kept the outdrive stored in the up position. With the bow of the boat slightly faceing downhill in my driveway. My driveshaft o rings look fine and all other o rings and gaskets looks fine also. Im wondering if i should take the outdrive in for service or just put it back on and try to store it in the proper position. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Sounds like the driveshaft yoke seal is leaking. Get it serviced during the off season.

Like Mike said: your shaft seal has failed. You’ll want to get that resolved as there should be no gear lube in the bellows regardless of the drives position.
