ID:	408805 This was taken early 70's, possibly Lake Cachuma.
It was my dads boat and Chevy Malibu. All I remember was a giant 50hp Johnson and an emblem on the boat that said "dotline", not sure if that was the manufacturer.

Not sure what kind of boat, but what's doing the towing is certainly impressive.

I had a boat with that same motor. Lots o torque. Designed I believe for pushing barges. I put a 75hp lower unit on it and increased the top speed.

Looks like a 85HP Evenrude I had on my 14' SeaSport in 1973. What do you think it is, Doug?

Unfortubately my dad sold that Malibu in the 80's before I was old enough to drive. Sold it for $200. I'm not sure what year it was but I wish I had it now!

Yes it was a Johnson Seahorse, maybe Super Seahorse? I think I recall super.
I do remember it had a pull starter when you lifted the hood off.

Yup exact name would be Super Sea Horse V 50.
almost looks like that Dorsette, but your dad's boat has the fancy bow lines like Performer.

Nice boat from the past. I still have vivid memories of Lake Cachuma in the late 60's.

Doesn’t that look kinda wide for a 50. My buddy who’s father had wads Of money used to have a 71 Glaston ( like in the James Bond Movie) GT 160 had an 85 Johnson on it. It looked just like that size wise. What a beast, went well over 50 and would leave boats with 110s in the dust with ease. Pass everything but a gas station. In the early 70s. His father owned an oil company and he was always broke. We used to ride him that he was the only rich guy on the planet with less money in his wallet than we did. That engine sure has that short squat of that 85, I think it was either a V4 or V6.

The 1st OMC V4's started at the 50hp rating....My dad had 2 of them on the back of a 22ft Thompson we used on Lake Michigan out of Racine Wi, when I was a kid...many moons ago.
