PNW VHF Radio Quick Reference-gctid401748

Things we do on a Thursday night when we can't sleep...If this has been done already, I apologize, but I went hunting for a VHF Channel Quick List that I could keep handy and didn't really find one already made that focused on the Pacific Northwest and just made for a handy guide without listing every single channel. So I came up with this.Because of all the commercial traffic, and being close to Canada, the channels with the non-white background are what I scan. The rest is just handy channels. If anyone sees any errors, or anything glaringly missing, let me know.

If anyone would like a 3.5" x 5.5" laminated version, or if anyone just wants a copy of the image or pdf to make their own... let me know.Don't worry, it's free... just need to know where to email or snail mail it as appropriate.

      Nice job!

      Then there's this one: http://www.raynormaritime.com/VHFSummary_Guide.pdf

It was set up for the "other" coast, and doesn't take into account the differences in US/Canada channels, but same idea. You can print it out, fold it in half, laminate it and keep it by the radio as a reference.

my uniden radio actually lists each channel and its function when your browsing through the channels on the display.

You should change "All Marinas" to "A few Marinas" - most marinas dont use 66A.

In my experience most Gulf Islands use 66A, in San Juan's and Puget Sound its all over the place.

My Garmin does as well, but this is just a quick reference, see everything at once type thing.

Yeah I was starting to notice that. As I was looking at different marina's around here, they all seem to pick a different frequency and I wasn't sure if it was 66, plus the freq they list, or they just do their own thing. I'm thinking they do their own thing. Probably just as east in most cases to call'em on the phone anyway... but I'll poke around their websites and update the list. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

The marina's that I have had contact with on Lake Simcoe also use 68.

                    Friday Harbor: 66a

                    Roche: 78

                    Deer Harbor: 78

                    Lopez islander: 78

                    IMC: 69

                    Blakely: 66

                    Rosairo: 78

It is really no different south of the islands either - the channels are all over the place. I have no doubt that things are a bit more uniform in Canada.
