  • Swim Platform Extension

I'm looking into a swim platform extension upgrade for my 2003 Bayliner 245. I've done some research, including existing BOC posts on the subject, and it looks like Swim Platforms Inc. has a good product at a reasonable price. Just curious if anyone has feedback on a swim platform extension and Swim Platforms Inc. or any other sources.

Here are a few pic's provided by Swim Platforms Inc.

There are two companies that sound alike.
Some here have said one brand was good the other not so good. Carlos was one of them. Maybe contact him and see if he remembers.

      Thanks!

I think I found the Carlos post. He claims the swim-platform.com is a better product.

I also found a 3rd source http://swimplatformsuperstore.com/ out ofCommerce City CO

The one with the dash in the name I thought went belly up. One of the photos has Carlos' boat in it, "weekend office." The non-dash company is alive and well. The owner keeps a 40' Sea Ray at Sunset Aquatic Marina in Huntington Harbor. We've visited with him a few times, and he makes an excellent product. A couple friends, one here in Havasu, have that non-dash product, and they love it. They look great, and you should be able to install it yourself, with a 30 pack and a couple friends.

Thanks! I did get a quote from them and it's pretty reasonable.

Remove the stock platform and have someone build a custom aluminum platform for you. A good fab shop. I have a 4ft extended platform on my 2859. Got it powdercoated to match the boat.

The 245 does not have a removable platform. It has a swim step which is part of the hull.

Sketch, That's one serious "swim platform", could probably land a massive halibut from it. What'd she cost to powder coat?

Their site is still up... Weekend Office is Carlos's old boat? Where are all the babes in bikinis?

Yep, they didn't want naked pics in their ads. Called the numbers, no good.

That explains why they didn't return a quote.

Sketch, the 245 is totally different than your boat's stern, more similar to my 285 with a molded in swim platform that is not removable.

I guess thats good and bad. The molded in platform looks alot nicer but if you want to make a bigger one its not so easy!

It will be the single best thing you have ever done to your boat, and you will wonder why you havent done it already!!! especially on the ciera cruisers, the deck is really small, especially when bbq'ing or relaxing in the sun. i used swimplatforms.com as they have the bayliner deck diamond mould so its looks like its supposed to be there.

When boat builders changed to the swim grid mould as part of the hull they could count that as boat length, the bolt on doesn't count.
