Do you fill a Cobra Outdrive with oil from the bottom hole or the hole in the middle? I have been told both ways. Thank you for your time.

check out the web site T.C.Electronics/Marine for procedure

all cobra drives.... fill it from the bottom.... squirt it in till it comes out the middle hole, and install the plugs. THEN... from the top, fill it to the mark on the stick. run it then recheck it.

its much easier to tell you how to do it, than it is to tell you why it needs to be done this way.

filling it from the bottom to the middle gets the oil in quickest, but if you fill it to the mark on the stick this way, it wont fill an oil cavity inside that can only be filled from the top... when filling from the top, after this cavity fills, then the oil runs over and down into the oil below to bring up the level to the mark on the stick....

if it isnt done this way, the cavity wont have oil in it which could cause damage before enough oil gets splashed up into it to lubricate properly...

Fill it all from the bottom, put whatever little bit of oil left in the bottles and pump in through the dip stick hole. If you put in all of 2 quarts, you are done.
