Post your trip fuel usage: Manuf, model, number, engine, leg / OB, beam, fuel use-gctid399675

    1998 Bayliner Ciera 2655

    5.7 carb, Bravo III

    8'6" beam

Planing between 19-21MPH at 2800-3000 RPM

36 miles on calm seas, about a dozen starts and stops

    Used 17.56 gallons

Giving me a fuel consumption of 2 MPG

I'm overly impressed with the performance of the Bravo III.

Not a Bayliner but here goes:

2006 Sea Ray 240 Sundancer/Merc 5.0 MPI with Bravo III Leg. 8.6 Beam.

      On a 100 mile trip I did 2 weeks ago averaging 3500-3600 (22 -24 MPH) rpms for 3.25hrs. I got a 11GPH and 2.796MPG.

Not bad, but if you are averaging 22-24 MPH and burning around 11 GPH..how is that 2.7 MPG?

          More like 2.

Anyway from my best calculations I can get about 2 MPG if I don't push her too much, and have no current. If I have to buch any kind of current I burn a lot more. (5.7 B III)

IN the office now, but I have all the data at home with Total Fuel used, etc.. Will post when I get back later tonight. I asked the searay guys if my numbers were close to what other were getting and they seem to get getting the same. I was suprised to see over 2MPG as well.

By the way Sequel I see you are in Toms River. The trip I did was from Raritan Bay (Morgan Marina, Cheesquake inlet near Perth Amboy) all the way to Seaside Park Marina. So rounded Sandy Hook went down 22 miles down to Manasquan Inlet, Then took the PP canal to Barnegat Bay down to Seaside Park Marina. Total was around 100 miles give or take.

That is ridiculously low. You are not only wasting a lot of fuel, but really stressing your engines too! You need to be around 3600-3800 RPM.

But to answer your question, I get 0.9 MPG at cruise on my boat, which is 3800 RPM and 32 MPH. If I slow down to 3200, which is about the minimum sure planing speed, MPG goes down to 0.7.

I'll typically run 3600-3800 at 25-27 mph. Water fairly calm, usually 2 people onboard, sometimes 4-6. For a season I'll put around 30 hours on the engine, and average 1.8mpg. This has been fairly consistent since I bought the boat new.

                    AQ125/270

Cruise at 4000 rpm, 25 mph, burning 5 gph which gets me about 3.7 mpg
