  • replacement plexiglass(?) for bomar hatch bayliner 32-gctid825067

    Hi

I need to replace the plexiglass(?) for our v-berth hatch on our bayliner 32. The hatch is a Bomar model number 8602210. I wonder where is a good place to buy this and what the part number would be.?

    thanks

I found mine on eBay. As far as I know, you have to buy the whole unit, not just the plexi.

FWIW, I also added a solar vent to the middle of it to keep the air moving and the mold to a minimum.

There is a company that will replace the plastic in the hatch. You can even pick which shade of plastic you would prefer.

I gave up trying to find one and had it copied/made locally - bedded it in 5200 - perfect job, good as new.

I would buy Lexan not Plexiglas

Lexan will not crack, Plexiglas will crack..

Lexan can be ordered with a scratch resistant coating on one, or both sides. If you get the one sided coating keep track of which side it is on so that it is on the outside when installed.

Pop out the old plexi and bring it to a plastics fabricator. I found a local guy that made mine 10 years ago and still going strong. Cant remember how much but I know it was super inexpensive. New hatch? $$$$.

Here's a decent video on a similar repair. You can have a new lense cut using the old as a template.

This project was a true test of patience! Duct tape… Baked on duct tape…. To remove the adhesive I used Naptha VM&P (which is safe to use on most polycarbonates). The black caulking was Dow…
