    Open Bow Boat Swamped-gctid399620

Turn down the volume on the needless soundtrack and watch this boat get swamped. I'm not sure what happened to it. Can anybody explain it?

    You tube "Submarine Boat"

Looks like he went from full speed forward to full speed reverse. Look at his right arm just before the incident.

        What a dufus......

My take ...if you look at the bow it pops up just before it goes under. I think he ran over a large boat wake and went down and into the back side of the trough.

I think it was done on purpose as part of a show. The passenger braces herself just before he stuffs the bow, they smile and wave at the crowd. Don't know if it is to show the boat will stay afloat regardless of what happens.

That must be it. Those ski/wake boats are - a little different.

I have seen this video years ago.

I believe he was trying to do this:

I do both of those on the Sea Doo all the time. Lots of fun. But in a boat??? Must be company-owned and he didn't care what happened to it.

I can't believe you would try that in a comp boat. Hard enough to keep water from coming over the bow under normal situations

A while back, I was asked to helm a correct craft mustang: 16', straight inboard, with a 360 Cu in chrysler. There were some of these which had Hemis (cypress gardens model). These boats leap on plane.

I was pulling a skiier and he fell. So I turned the boat around and chopped the throttle. The boats own wake overwashed the bow and some even went over the windshield. Kind of unnerving when you are in the helm seat, and catch it in the face.

Yes, ski boats are a different breed of cat. Designed to run flat, with minimum wake. The design is for the skiier, not the boat. When running the boat is level. remove power and the bow drops to a few inches of freeboard. You have to remove power slowly

I agree, it was staged. The zoom of the video does not allow you to see how the wake was made. But the operator intentionally drove the boat into the trough of the wake.

Maybe it is a commercial for a new bilge pump manufacturer:right

I can't remember which brand, but one of these wakeboard manufacturers had to pay out big recently because their down-sloped bow design was sinking a lot of boats in perfectly normal operation.
