this black wire in the ESA harness???-gctid824723

after getting the motor back in, I have all the electrical connected except for this black wire im holding in the photo... the harness has a brown and white wire, with a gray wire spliced onto the white harness wire... the gray wire then goes into a device that has heat shrink tubing around it, then exits and connects to the negative side of the coil... the black wire comes out of the same heat shrunk "device" as the gray wire...

can some one tell me where the black wire connects? (1/4" ring terminal)... testing with the ohm meter it doesnt appear to be common to a ground or the gray wire, so im not sure what it is for.

the wiring diagram I have for the ESA harness does not show the black wire. the boat is an '89 2556 with the prestolite BID distributor...

Thank you.... I am quite sure it was connected to one of the 1/4" bolts holding the ESA module, as one of the bolts are loose, but I wasnt positive that is where it went back to, but it seems the only logical place for that size ring terminal.... and I didnt want to take a chance on frying my wiring by connecting it without knowing for sure....
