    I made the transition from a 3055 like you to a Carver 3007 Aft Cabin sedan. Each boat has it advantages and disadvantages. Lots more room in the sedan.

    Thank you for the great comments. That's good to know. Buying a new boat is a big decision. Not only that, moving to an entirely different style of boat is risky. So far I have heard its great to move from a cruiser to a flybridge.

    The Regal can still cruise at 23mph but I prefer 15-17mph cruise. Not too fast or too slow.

    You new boat looks like Flybridge to me, maybe I don't understand what "Sedan" means.

    Regardless, I have asked myself this question many times, meaning would I be happier with a smaller faster boat. I compare to my buddy's Chaparral or 30 foot Sea Rays. I find that yes they are faster but noisy to the point of shouting, the cabins are cramped and terrible visibility (almost none) and seems like they are always struggling with canvas. Too hot, too cold whatever. With the 3270, I go up to drive, great visibility and ventilation (I only run a bimini), if the weather sucks I go down to drive. The cabin and windows at seating level is very nice, perfect for evenings when it gets cool with the wrap around windows. Both boat styles have their ups and downs but I prefer the flybridge. It's like a 3 story house, well counting the underberth as a story I suppose. Plus I am old and no longer in a hurry. 8 knots for the win.

    Also your new boat is gorgeous. Congrats.

    Every once in awhile, I miss the speed and when the river is high, I have to wait for bridges. Other than that, I couldn't be happier.

    I went the other way.

    32xx fly bridge to 2859 cruiser.

    I miss the peacefulness and quietness of cruising at 8 mph at 1800 rpm vs. 25mph at 3600 rpm.

    I must be getting old.

    I'm guessing you meant a 3888 vs 3880? At any rate I think the only thing you may miss is the speed of the cruiser compared to the 38.

    Just purchased Regal 3880 and waiting for it to be shipped.

    Has anyone else made the transition from a cruiser to a sedan bridge/fly bridge?

    Was there anything you missed about the cruiser after making this move?
