    Good Deal? 1991 Capri 2052 cuddy-gctid818739

I have a buddy that's selling his 1991 Capri 2052 cuddy in good condition no tears on seats or carpet, comes with trailer boat cover and it has a Bimini top. He is asking $3000. I was wanting to get everyone's advise here if this is a good deal and if you would buy it for the price, or what a reasonable price would be. Thanks for your help.

sounds reasonable, does it run well for an hour, does everything work, does the trailer need work, do you like it and can you tow it? Those are the questions for your own mind to answer. Then offer him 2K. don't say a word until he speaks. you might make a deal below 3 k and get out on the water!!!!

15 years ago I bought my first boat ( 1993 1952 ) for about 4K. The boat was in incredible shape, all worked, the carpet looked new, the seats were actually new, just professionally upholstered with great quality. That 93 model had Alpha 1 Gen II outdrive, way better than Alpha 1 on 1991 boats. However, the trailer on my boat was a painted rusty junk, had to replace it immediately. If the boat has fresh water cooling, a good galvanized trailer, and you don't mind an older outdrive, go for it, otherwise, it's a bit overpriced. Just my opinion.

I am looking one 1952, year 1994. Hull is in good shape, 3.0 engine running and can lift hull from watter. So, not so bad. Transom sounds firm. Not sure about floor.
Questions : how about some weekend cruise, with overnight ? Sleeping and toilet are "factory built-in" but how about eating, cooking ?
How you solve anchor issue , since there is no anchor roller, neither rope locker . Bucket ?
Boat have full bimini , with sides and rear awing. So, can be closed completely. But, when I try it, canvas was removed , so I did not manage to measure/feel headroom in cockpit, with canvas/bimini on.
It is important for me, since I am 6'2" !

Beeing in Europe, east, I am not dare to mention price !
But, at least twice as in US !

I had a 1993 version of what you are looking at. Great little boat. I got probably around 4.5 mpg at around 30 mph so about as fuel efficient as you can get. Easy to launch, easy to tow, not much for creature comforts. If you anchor a lot definitely mount an anchor pulpit on the bow. I could not fit out the hatch to deploy anchor (not fat, lift weights so my shoulders are to wide) so had to shimmy over the windshield or deploy from the rear.

green 660, thank you for replay.

In fact, being used on river, where mooring is not so easy (constant stream), owner install some (strange) anchoring "installation" in form of huuuge square tube , like davit, to lift even more strange anchor ( look like bomb), Instead of standard chain and rope, we install, (no less!) an electric towing winch . Apart looks awfuller, it works!
I have idea to put all together back in original state, adding some byliner-style pulpit . and for chain+rope, some off-the-shelf watter tight box with lid . of course, if shape of bow (deck and below) allows .

From all comments on net, I conclude that xxx2 series of Capri, is most capable for little bit heavier seas.

            Thank you for support .

In meantime, my 1952 is sold , but now there are two Ciera's 2052 (guys set identical price, in cent!) :
First one is 2052, year 1992. with 3.0 TKS, in very good shape and with trailer (registered, what is very important in my area! You cant believe, due to some stupid bureaucracy, original trailers can not be registered, no way, and you can buy one as winter stand for 300-400$, while same age, but with papers, are 1500$ +!)

Second one is 2052 , year 1995/1996 with 4,3 , 205HP, but with upholstery in bad shape and unregistered trailer.

So, nice situation for negotiation !

Anyway, question is- which engine fit better to 2052? Asuming same cruising speed (i.e. 30MPH) what RPM is neccesary on 3.0, vs 4.3 ?
I make some math with fuel consumption, but, can't find power/torque curves for (any) Merc- it is mystery like Holly Grail !
