    2004 Bayliner 3055 Ciera - Under powered?-gctid816059

    Hello everyone.

I'm new to this forum, I hope you can help me out with a question. I'm looking at a 2004 3055 Ciera. It has twin 190hp motors. I believe they are the Volvo 6 cylinder motors.

Can you give me your opinions on if you think these motors are under size for this boat?

    Thanks

    Russ

We can only tell you what was base in the boat. I believe this boat had twin V8s as standard back then, which means someone repowered this boat with smaller engines at some point. It is POSSIBLE this boat came with standard 4.3L V6s as standard, but I am not 100% sure that's the case.

    I would say hard pass.

Starting back in 98, Bayliner offered the following engines. Twin 4.3's, Twin 5.0's, Twin 5.7's Twin 7.4's and Twin 5.9 Cummings Diesels on a 3055. Twin 4.3 was standard power.

Buddy has a 2006 305SB twin 4.3s... adequate for that boat, no where near underpowered, but his is 220HP 4.3 MPI.

In 2004, it was a 305, not a 3055. And the standard power was twin Mercruiser 5.0L, 220 HP. Bayliner never offered a Volvo option in that boat. And yes, 380 HP total for a 12,000 lb planing hull is woefully underpowered.

Can't speak to the 2004 but in 1999 when I ordered my 3055 twin 4.3's were optional, 5.0's were standard.

I have a clean 1998 merc 7.4 with fairly new risers man ignition parts starter belts hoses etc but has no compression in 2 cylinders-I'm replacing with a 383 stroker crate engine-is the 7.4 worth anything like this?

BL built so many 305/3055, I'd look for one with v8s and not take the chance on one that appears to be a underpowered re-power. I had the 5.7 but I know quite a few people with the 5.0 and either set up is fine.

Exactly what he said. A 3055 with any of the V-8's offered would in no way be underpowered.
