    Shifting issues-gctid815005

Hi I'm new on this forum and just have a couple questions. I just bought a 88 Capri with the 302ci omc cobra drive. When I bought it the drive was off and the previous owner told me he just had all the seals redone... checked all cables before install drive everything was good. Put drive on and now won't shift into any gear but locked in forward. Took the drive back off and everything works fine. Maybe mis alignment with the bellcrank took measurements and everything is good. So out drive back on and same thing. With drive off manually shifting drive perfect. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If its anything like a Mercrusier, the shift MUST be in forward gear position when installing the drive. Anyone else have an idea?

      OMC you leave in NEUTRAL,

      ESA not functioning possibly...

      What is she idling at?

Push the shift interrupt switch manually, see if she will stumble.

She idles in neutral at about 6-700. I do set the drive in neutral and once it's on seems like it locks in forward and won't budge at all

With the drive off the shift control moves freely ?

          Give this a read ...
