St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island (Georgia)-gctid814634

Good morning! I may have a job opportunity in Brunswick GA area and wanted to get an idea of boating in the area. Yes, I know "there is water everywhere"...in particular, we like to do day trips to tiki bars/restaurants on the water, as well as overnight destinations. We currently live in the Annapolis area and are fortunate enough to have many options to choose from...are we a bit spoiled with this area?

Yes, you are spoiled in that area. An abundance of shrimp and oysters! It's been a few years since I've lived there, but we used to always go up to Darien to a little restaurant that had all you could eat shrimp and a ribeye for around $12. If you can, rent a house on the waterway with a dock. I've been TDY out there to FLETC quite a few times and love it. Winter can have some cold days though.

Just left Savannah and Charleston after spending the better part of 10 years working in that area. Wonderful area, but hot is hot. If you can stand 8 months of temperatures in the range of mid 80's to 100 and 100% humidity, you will love it. The good thing is that January through March is tolerable. I don't care if you are on the water or not. 95 and humid is still 95 and humid on the water, even if there is a breeze.
