    VR5 and fishing.-gctid812133

Hello all, I'm looking for any solutions you might have to mount fishing rod holders in the VR or similar bowrider. Thanks for any suggestions and pictures you might be able to provide.

        Hi,

I fitted two of these to my VR6, using the flush mounted starport fixings, they are excellent products, with many other products/mounting options.

Hi, if you have a look on their site they give excellent information on using and fitting each item, I used the Star Ports with the flush mounted option, they are supplied with a back plate and nut/bolt fixings for a very strong fixing, my dealer fitted them, drilling the holes was very easy, but getting under side is the difficult part, luckily there was access on my VR6, or you may have to cut out an access hole, not ideal but IMO self tapping would not be strong enough.

I use the Rod Holder ll and the swivel ports to give more rotation left/right adjustment.

IMO they are very neat and tidy when not in use, many other items can be mounted to the same fixing, and don't interfere with the covers going back on.

They are made of plastic but I think GRP so seem very strong, however I would not trust them to withstand a heavy fish strike, so I always set some reel drag just to be on the safe side.

            Hope that helps.

What did you end up settling on? I just put an order in for a VR5 and was facing the same problem - Anyone use anything like Berts Custom Tackle or Traxstech?
