You may want to contact the Edson family on Fidalgo Island, Washington. My understanding is Bayliner was started by the owners of Advance Marine in Seattle, a Mercury Outboard Dealer, because they could get motors but not boats. It sorta grew from there.

I met Orin's brother Walt a number of years ago. He was buying up marine shops that were failing at the beginning of the recession and selling off their assets. Interesting perspective he had on the whole boating industry back then. A lot of fortunes were made back then.
