Changing oil in Volvo (1986) 280 outdrive-gctid811534

Hello-

Getting ready to service my outdrive before painting it. It has been sitting for a while. Do I use 30 W oil or Gear oil? What else do I have to do besides replace the O ring/seal and what is the correct part # I have seen 958860 and 831892 . Thank you

The AQ280 SP will use 30w or I think 40w on warmer water. You will need 2, O rings. 1for the dip stick and 1 for the drain plug

Yes.... for an s/p drive, 30W engine oil if in cold water...... and 40W engine oil if in warm waters such as in south Florida.

(Heavy gear oil may shear the slinger pump impeller drive pins.... if this occurs, transmission cooling becomes very limitted).
