So I have finished the new table for the boat I have been working on. I still need to fit the cup holders in place. But on the cherry cabinet paper cover it has developed bubbles. On the granite cabinet paper cover it is nice and smooth. Does anyone know how to get rid of the air bubbles in the contact paper? Then once that is completed does anyone know how to give it a hard protective coating? I thought of clear coating it but my fianc├® said ok but don't complain when the kids plates and or food slide off and hit your new carpet you just put in the boat.

As to a finish, is it paper or thin vinyl? You could do a decoupage with varnish and use those rubber mats to hold your plates on the table.

Sorry, my cell wouldn't transfer the photos. Anyway these are the photos of the table I made it out of 2, 2ft x 4ft pieces of plywood screwed together, sanded then sealed and covered with spray adhesive.

Finally fixed the formatting on my cell phone photos. Here is the main photo I have left as I already put the table in the boat.

Hope you don't mind, but I recalibrate your photos so I could see them.
Since there is no coating that will stick to it, much less won't peel it off and/or lift and crinkle the paper, I suggest you get a sheet of ┬╝" plexiglass, cut it to size, cut out the cup holders and set it on top. Might want to make it slightly larger to protect the paper edges. Looking at the photos of the cupholders, the inserts may be all you need to hold the plexiglass in place.

Its self adhesive cabinet paper. I looks ok but could be way better. I agree that using plexiglass would be the way to go. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.
