    High water in Southern Ontario.-gctid809250

Still haven't got the boat in the water yet this season. Having some work done to the outdrive, so at least I'm not missing anything at the moment, but it will make for a painfully short season in 17!!
The ice melted on time, and we were looking like late April boating. Then the rains started, and added to the ice melt. And then it rained some more. I live near Lake Scugog, which is the Southernmost of the Kawartha lakes, on the Trent canal system. In December, my well went dry, and now, the water is 2 feet from needing to be mowed. The dams on the canal system are all opened full, and in places, the water is just too high to launch. Many marinas are flush with the dock, and others have docks underwater. Same for many on Lake Ontario to the South. Anyone else caught out by the high water?

We are at Pickering on Lake Ontario. I own my dock and it was built with high water levels in mind. We have 18 inches of piling left before we have a problem.

many clubs have emailed me that they are unable to accept visiting boats. Hanlans Point at Toronto is now open but few others.

Many clubs along the north and south shores of the lake cannot even turn on their electricity.

While the water levels are up we are still in fine condition here on the Detroit River and Lake Erie. 4 years ago they were worried about record low levels here on the Great Lakes. 1 really snowy winter and the predicted 10 years to return to normal happened in just 1 year. All the rain this year have added to lake levels but we are not in the condition you are up there. Hope the levels drop soon so you can begin your boating season.

The only thing we have to worry about are strong northeast or easterly winds. A week ago there were docks underwater because of high winds. Once the winds subsided levels dropped to normal levels.
