Mercruiser 350 MPI beeps 6 times

I have a 2011 Ciera 2855 350 MPI engine Bravo III I just did a tune up replacing all with Original Mercruiser parts. I just started her up, and after a min. or two, the alarm sounded 6 beeps. Then nothing. I ran it for 20 min at least, reved it up a little, then it sounded again then nothing for another 20 min.

The manual says it is a caution alarm. Wires, spark plugs? (I used platinum)

    Causes

    Thank you

    Mike

Oh woo is me no 6 beeps ...

Give this a peek let me know if you can find the 6 beeps

Why should you get your HVAC system serviced regularly? Regular HVAC maintenance can help increase the lifespan of your air system and your furnace. It will allow you to enjoy your heating and cooling system without paying a steep price when something major goes wrong. It will also reduce your likelihood of dealing with major

Yea i look at Rinker's site so what ?

6 beeps is a new one for me. I have SmartCraft on my 350 mpi and it will indicate the fault (beeps). I also have the manuals printed off but they are located at my cottage and I won't be there for some time - sorry! Our boats are full of sensors so could be anything. Does the boat go into guardian mode after the 20 mins or does it continue on working fine? I assume you have checked all of the fluids, gear oil, power steering, etc. any low levels will set off an alarm. I would start by back tracking what you have done to see if you can see anything that may cause the beeping. Friend of my got the dreaded beeps last season and after many hours of trying to figure it out we were about to load it on the trailer and take to a mechanic to hook it to a decoder to isolate which sensor was causing the beeps, in a last ditch effort I decided to take a picture of my engine to compare to his (same engine) and we found a wire disconnected. Plugged it back in and no more beeps - he figured he must of knocked it loose while servicing. Did you service yourself or take it to a mechanic? If you had it serviced it elsewhere I would bring it back and see if they can isolate the beeps. Is there anything else on your boat that could be beeping beside the engine? The carbon monoxide detector beeps on mine when the batteries are low. Best of luck with it. Post back when you discover the reason, I'm sure someone here will have the same problem down the road

Don't know if it is in guardian mode. I just started the boat while it was on the blocks in the boat yard with the muffs. Didn't go above 1500 rpm's. I mostly ran it at idle.

IF it goes into guardian mode, what would I expect as far as performance. Never experienced that before.

(Limp home/guardian mode) is when the boat all of a sudden will not go above 2500-3000 rpms no matter what the throttle position is. The computer of the boat is protecting the engine for some reason. Mainly temperature, throttle positioning, oil pressure or defective sensors can cause it.

                Yup yup,

Guardian mode power reduction will vary all depends on what.

Soft alarm is what you're dealing with on your engine.

You'll need your engine scanned for fault codes.

Make sure the engine is getting enough water when on the muffs. Wondering if the beeps are being caused by poor water flow because of the muffs.

New boat.......covered under warranty..............6 beeps indicates one of several things...........a scan tool is required.

If you don't see any obvious connections loose...............take it to the dealer.

Sorry this has thrown a wrench in the enjoyment of your new boat.

PS- I see you are from Sweden....I realize that it may be a pain to go to the dealer but the earlier posted PDF (post 9) shows it could be one of several sensor issues that can only be determined by using a scan tool or VesselView Mobile.

Thanks for your answer! Where do i find PDF (post 9) ?? This VesselView Mobile you talk about is a "must have" i think.. I read in the manual that during "Break in time" its important to view the stern drive gear oil.. I am going down to the marina and take a look wright away..... Here in Sweden we are in the end of summer so maybe a last tour....

Yes, by all means get the Vessel View. I hooked mine up this year to my 2011 350 MPI engine to find why my alarm was going off, and with the alarm sounded again I had my answer. A great investment.

If you click on the hyperlink in post 9 it will show you the document with details on the various beeps.

I felt very strongly about getting VVM for my boat.

I primarily got it to check on engine hours but, it can also tell you if other codes have been set during a fault.

It provides all kinds of live operating data as well.

Since you have a brand new and somewhat expensive boat, I think the money to get VesselView Mobile is money well spent.
