Hey, where is the 288 owners thread? The 2859 owners thread has 20 pages! The 288 is the best looking sub 30' cruiser out there across all brands! I've had people ask if ours is the new Bertram and be very surprised to learn it's a Bayliner. I want to go bigger, but my wife loves this boat. How can you argue with that? Who knows why they stopped making it. C'mon 288'ers, let's have some pride!

They stopped making them because the economy tanked so Bayliner abandoned everything over 21' I believe. They basically make runabouts, deckboats, center consoles and wakeboarding boats at least in the US

I agree. I think the 2858/288 is one of the best small designs around. I am surprised the market has not made some attempt to
make this boat or a comparable model? JC

I agree they are beautiful boats. My wife and I bought the next one down the Discovery 266. Love the Discovery line of boats.

It's too bad a more powerful powerplant than a Chev 350, and a more economical engine than a 454 didn't come along sooner. The new Mercury 6.2L or 8.1L would have been sweet!

Nice motor, but it'd be great if there was a marine version of the Ford turbo diesel you can get in the F-150!
