    Disembarking??-gctid805221

    Hi,

I am a new boat owner. I have a 36' Bayliner and was hoping to get some tips on getting off and on the boat when anchored beach side or in the lake. I have a dog that is going to have troubles getting on and off the boat when not at the dock. I was thinking dingy or ramp. Not sure where to purchase ramps or steps.

    Thanks, Carla

If the dog swims, you can get a boarding ramp or boarding steps. Do web searches for, dog boat boarding ramp, and dog boat boarding steps. You will find a number of solutions.

If the dog does not swim or you don't want it to get wet, a dinghy will work. We anchor a lot and take our dog ashore on our dinghy. She just jumps on and off at the beach. Since you will be beaching the dinghy, you may want a hard-shell boat or a rigid inflatable boat (RIB). A soft bottom inflatable will not last long if beached often.

Another less common solution is a kayak. We have sit-inside kayaks with large cockpits. They are large enough for our 40 Lb dog to sit right in front of me.
