    Lower Unit Install Help-gctid803309

I took my lower unit off to inspect my impeller (it was fine), and then reassembled everything. I went to put the lower unit back on and I have a 1/4" to a 1/2" gap now between the lower and upper unit. I have been trying for about 2 hours now to get it back on and still no luck.... HELP.... This is driving me nuts! I cant figure it out!

Forgot to mention, the motor is a 1996 Mercury Force 120!

Well with all of the overwhelming responses..... I figured it out! Had to rotate my shift shaft slightly to get it in gear, and then the lower unit slid in fine.

I saw your initial post but I am not familiar with the alpha shift linkage or impeller portion of that drive so I didn't have anything to offer. Glad you got it figured out and it turned out to be a minor thing.
