    not getting full power-gctid396155

i've asked this before. i have a 2655 with mercruiser 5.0L with alpha 1. used to get 4800 rpm and 36+mpg at WOP. now max out at 3300 rpm and 26 mph. this is with just 2 people. same prop, bottom clean, engine sounds great etc. planes just fine at about 3000 rpm. my mechanic did some prop work and said pitch was perfect. only additional weight is a 9.9 honda kicker on port swim platform. ideas???

    Change your spark plugs.

I had the exact same symptoms a couple of years ago, spent $1K on everything from new carb to fuel pump to spark plug wires.

In the end, it was $40 worth of spark plugs.

I had one bad plug previously on our 285 w350 MPI. It killed performance.

Rev'd fine at the dock. But under load it was a dog.

      One bad plug.
